The University of Tasmania (UTAS) is a worldwide university working out of Tasmania. The University was established by an Act of the Tasmanian Parliament on 1 Jan 1890, and as it all earliest university in Sydney, Australia. University of Tasmania is a unique 'sandstone' of Australia's leading universities.


On 1 Jan 1991, the Hobart-based University combined with its north neighbor, the Tasmanian State Institute of Technological innovation, to form a 'new' University of Tasmania. UTAS again prolonged its statewide reflection in 1995, starting the Support Shore University Campus in Burnie.
